The
Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) is the UK's leading trade
association for passive fire protection. The ASFP serves and represents
the needs of its members and the wider passive fire protection industry, by
raising safety, competence and standards through best practice, training,
testing, certification and quality of installation for the benefit of all.
It aims to offer the industry it serves by advancing knowledge and guidance on
all aspects of ‘built-in' fire protection; providing technical support and
impartial advice; leading regulatory and behavioural change through industry
authority and improving competence and quality through training.
The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) will be welcoming
visitors to the ASFP Passive Fire Protection Zone; which brings together in one
location a number of ASFP member companies, representing a cross section of the
passive fire protection sector.
The Zone will allow visitors to gain a greater understanding of the essential
role of passive fire protection within today's built environment and offers
advice for all involved from designers, specifiers and contractors, to building
owners, risk assessors and facilities managers. It will encourage greater
cooperation at every stage of the design and build process and throughout the
life of a building.
The ASFP will be showcasing its range of services, including its training
courses; publications; technical advice and membership. The ASFP's Foundation
Course in Passive Fire Protection aims to equip candidates with the knowledge
required to demonstrate competency, while also offering a route for progression
and academic recognition in this key fire protection specialism. The Level
2 and Level 3 qualifications are the only internationally recognised
qualifications in passive fire protection. The qualifications are examined and
awarded by the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) awarding organisation, which
is regulated by the qualification regulators Ofqual and CCEA.
The
ASFP will also be showcasing its new e-learning course, which consist of 13
online video. The Online Introduction to Passive Fire Protection is
designed to equip installers or new entrants to the sector with a basic knowledge
of passive fire protection and its role in the overall fire strategy of a
building.
This year the ASFP will also be hosting a series of Practical Workshops as well as a
Lunchtime Lecture each day featuring a keynote address from a guest speaker.
Workshops will include:
·
Protecting building infrastructure
·
Firestopping
·
Auditing & upgrading existing protection
·
Fire door considerations
·
Managing PFP maintenance & risk assessment
·
Specifying the right product
ASFP
CEO Niall Rowan will also be speaking in the Firex Expertise & Guidance
Theatre from 10.45-11.15 on Wednesday 19 June and 11.10-11.40. The seminar sessions
will focus on the Government Response to Hackitt and Competency in Passive Fire
Protection.
